Devices 1 - 68HC11 Microcontroller

  • This chip is is a 8-bit microcontroller family.
  • Originally from Motorola but now being produced by Freescale Semiconductor.
  • It is a CISC microcontroller.
  • More powerful and more expensive than the 68HC05 microcontroller.
  • Widely used in barcode readers, hotel card key writers, amateur robotics, and various other embedded systems.
  • HC11 instruction set is upward compatible with the 6800 with the addition of a Y index register.
  • It has 8 eight-bit accumulators, A and B.
  • Two 16-bit index register, X and Y.
  • 16-bit stack pointer and a program counter.
